+ Which parts of Canberra do you service?
Canberra Yard Services primarily services the South Canberra and Inner North region of Canberra. For suburbs outside of South Canberra region an additional travel charge of between $10-$20 applies.
+ Do you provide quotes?
We work on a fixed hourly rate. We are happy to provide you with a free estimation of the hours involved in undertaking your required tasks however we do not provide fixed quotes for our services.
+ Do I need to supply anything?
No, we bring everything I am likley to need. The only exception to this is for weedspraying services for which we will require access to an outdoor water supply.
+ Do you use Glyphosate?
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in many common store bought herbecides including products like RoundUp & Zero. Respecting that some customers have a preference against the use of glyphosate in their yards therefore we always carry both common Glyphosate containing herbecides (Typically Yates Super Concentrate or similar) and Glyphosate-free alternatives (typically Slasher Eco-Organic Weedkiller concentrate or similar).Unless requested otherwise we am likely to assume that you are okay with the use of Glyphosate containing herbecides, We will however, in any case, check with you that you are happy for us to undertake weedspraying and request that pets and people be kept free of the areas at least for a couple of hours following spraying. Depending on the amount of area requiring weedspraying an additional charge of $10-20 (Glyphosate containing) or $15-$25 (Organic / non-glyphosate) may be charged to help cover the cost of weedkiller purchase.
+ Are you insured?
Yes, Canberra Yard Services carries 5 million in Professional Indemnity and Public Liability insurance.
+ Do I need to be home?
No, it’s totally up to you. Many regular clients are not home while we are working but if you need to brief me with specific instructions then I do recommend you being there, especially if this is the first session.
+ What happens if it's raining?
If it looks like heavy rain or weather unsuitable for gardening we will make a judgment call on the day and call you prior to the scheduled time to reschedule the job, (typically until that weekend if possible as we normally try to keep weekends free for reshedules and catchups)
+ What if the service takes longer than expected?
We try to work very hard, very fast and very efficiently and from experience can get lots done in two hours however if we believe that your tasks are likely to take longer than the allocated 2 hours we will let you know and, depending upon the days schedule, may be able to work an extra 10-15 mins that day, If your tasks look like they'll take longer still we will recommend an additional booking for another and let you know how many bookings we expect your task might take.
+ What if it takes less time?
The minimum callout is 2 hours. It is usually very easy to find enough work to fill 2 hours (even on the smallest yard) however if your task takes less than 2 hours you will still be charged the minimum 2 hour callout rate.
+ My yard is significantly overgrown, is that going to be a problem?
No worries! We only ask that you are reasonable with your expectations as to what can be achieved within a couple of hours.

+ I have dogs/pets in the yard, is that going to be a problem?
As a rule we will not enter backyards with dogs or roaming pets without the owner being present. This is for a couple of reasons, firstly being for personal safety and second being that we will not take responsability for 'minding' your pet/s.. typically a garden maintenance job will require a lot of moving from the front to rear yards and we don't have the time to be chasing escaped dogs or pets down the street.
On the issue of dog poo- The presence of dog poo is considered a personal health risk, mowing over dog poo also impacts the performace or our lawn mowers. Should you be requiring lawn mowing services we would appreciate that any dog poo be cleaned up prior to our visit, in the event that dog poo is present we will either take the time to shovel up and dispose of in your bin (where clearly visable on well maintained lawns), or mow around the area to avoid the dog poo or, if there is dog poo in long grass, only do a very high cut to avoid dog feces being picked up by and spread through the lawn mower and catcher.
+ Why do you charge for green waste removal?
We charge an additional fee for green waste removal (up to one full uteload) with any two hour gardening booking. This charge is to help cover the additional time needed to take green waste to the tip plus to help cover the cost of petrol. We charge this seperately as not all jobs require a trip to the tip and therefore charge seperately to the hourly rate. We're more than happy to fill up green bin, add to a compost pile, throw weeds to the chooks, chop up branches and logs for fire-wood or pile up green waste for your own removal just please let us know your preference before we start so we can factor this in to our time management. Unless you request otherwise we will assume that green waste removal is expected where required and charge accordingly.
+ How do i pay?

Cancellation fees will apply if you cancel your appointment after 5pm the day prior to your appointment - a 1 hour service fee will apply ($70).
